About Amo

The town of Amo is located within Clay Township in Hendricks County Indiana. The Town's name comes from the Latin word 'I Love' and was established in 1850. The town of Amo has a Police Department, Fire Protection and Ambulance Services, as well as an Interurban Building that includes a reading room for the community.

Amo's Capital Improvements PlaN

A Capital Improvement Plan establishes, prioritizes, and plans funding for projects to improve existing facilities and to help the Town develop new ones. This plan promotes better use of the Town's financial resources, reduces cost, and assists in the coordination of public and private development.

COVID-19: Stopping the Spread

Practicing these everyday prevention measures will help stop or slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Please follow the precautionary measures as indicated below: 


  • Avoid close contact with sick people. 
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. 
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. 
  • Avoid touching your eyes nose, and mouth. 
  • Stay home when you are sick, except to seek medical care. 
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitize with at least 60% alcohol.
